چکیده
Bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) has attracted considerable attention from the research community in past three decades, because it can achieve desirable error performance with relatively low implementation complexity for a large number of communication and storage systems. By exploiting iterative demapping decoding (ID), BICM is able to approach capacity limits over various channels. In recent years, protograph low-density parity-check (PLDPC) codes their spatially-coupled (SC) variants have emerged be pragmatic forward-error-correction (FEC) solution systems due tremendous error-correction capability simple structures, found widespread applications such as deep-space communication, satellite wireless optical data storage. This article offers comprehensive survey on state-of-the-art development PLDPC-BICM its innovative SC variety channel models, e.g., additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channels, fading Poisson pulse position (PPM) flash-memory Of particular interest code construction, constellation shaping, well bit-mapper design, where receiver formulated serially-concatenated framework consisting soft-decision demapper belief-propagation decoder. Finally, several promising directions are discussed, which not been adequately addressed current literature.

Bandwidth-efficient Bit-interleaved Coded Cooperative Communications
A cooperative coding scheme using M-ary modulation for high spectral efficiency and repetitive information transmission for diversity improvement is proposed. The encoder is a parallel concatenation of two bit-interleaved coded M-ary modulators (BICM) with scalable repetition of information symbols. As a result, the fraction of repeated information and the spectral efficiency of M-ary modulatio...

The principle of coding in the signal space follows directly from Shannon’s analysis of waveform Gaussian channels subject to an input constraint. The early design of communication systems focused separately on modulation, namely signal design and detection, and error correcting codes, which deal with errors introduced at the demodulator of the underlying waveform channel. The correct perspecti...

Adaptive coded modulation is a powerful method for achieving a high spectral efficiency over fading channels. Recently proposed adaptive schemes have employed set-partitioned trelliscoded modulation (TCM) and have adapted the number of uncoded bits on a given symbol based on the corresponding channel estimate. However, these adaptive TCM schemes will not perform well in systems where channel es...

We consider a simple method to improve the adaptiveness and flexibility of bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) with different iterative decoding schemes for bandwidth efficient transmission. The basic idea is to apply different signal constellations and mappings within one code word. The combination of different signal constellations allows a fine adaptation of the data rate to the channel ...
متن کاملAdaptive Interleaving for Bit-Interleaved Coded Modulation
In this paper interleaver design for bit-interleaved coded modulation and systems with channel-state information at the transmitter is investigated. Based on the bit level capacities of an equivalent channel model an advantageous interleaver design is proposed. Understanding the varying level capacities as the result of a “fading” process, suited bit metric arrangements in the decoder can signi...
